Krampus Fest

Dec. 19

Incredibly, I had never heard of Krampus, the devil-esque creature from German folklore, until last year, when a host of events celebrating him popped into my Facebook feed. Now, there’s a major motion picture due out Dec. 4 about the hooved, horned beast who punishes children for being bad. What better way to celebrate this Lucifer lookalike than with metal? Join T.O.M.B. (that’s Total Occultic Mechanical Blasphemy to you), Windfaerer, Goat Wizard, Hericide, and Dispellment for a night of raised devil horns and other activities in Satan’s service. It just so happens to fall on one of the darkest, shortest days of the year, according to the organizers on Facebook. There will also be a dramatic reading of a new Krampus book written by Nina Osegueda. 7 p.m., The Sidebar, 218 E. Lexington St., (410) 659-4130, sidebarbaltimore.com, $8-$10. (Brandon Weigel)
