Cock Plays

Starts Nov. 19

There's something in the water around the stage scene these days—and gathering from these plays, it might just be cock. First, to set the mood, there's Annex Theater's "Impassioned Embraces," by John Pielmeier (Full disclosure: Annex shares a space with me at Psychic Annex). And then "Cock (Or the CockFight Play)" at Fells Point Corner Theatre follows the unraveling of a gay couple after one falls in love with a woman, while Single Carrot's "Year of the Rooster" actually has nothing to do with sex, really, and follows actual cock-fighting in a story based on "The Odyssey," which, if you're like me, is sexy enough. "Impassioned Embraces" Nov. 19-Dec.13, Annex Theater, 219 Park Ave., (410) 925-7403, baltimoreannextheater.org; "Cock (Or the CockFight Play)" Nov. 20-Dec. 20, Fells Point Corner Theatre, 251 S. Ann St., (410) 276-7837, fpct.org; "The Year of the Rooster" Dec. 9-Jan. 10, Single Carrot Theatre, 2600 N. Howard St., (443) 844-9253, singlecarrot.com. (Baynard Woods)
