"Zombie Prom"

Oct. 16-Nov.8

Unpopular opinion: "Grease" kind of sucks. Yes, Olivia Newton-John looked amazing in those pants, but the music is annoying, John Travolta is and always has been creepy, and the writers handled the fucked-up treatment of their female characters like it was just harmless teenage shenanigans. But you know what would've made it a lot better? Zombie gore. If the living dead had feasted on the intestines of that asshole Kenickie, we might feel differently. We're not expecting quite that level of satisfying violence with Spotlighter's production of "Zombie Prom," but hey, there's '50s rock 'n' roll, a high school romance, pompadours, and a bad reaction to nuclear waste. That's enough for us. 817 St. Paul St., (410) 752-1225, spotlighters.org, $15-$20. (Maura Callahan)
