6. Crimson Wave, 'Say' (Accidental Guest Records)

Rather spare in its arrangement of guitar, bass, and drums, 'Say' feels like it moves at a steady pace as vocalist (and contributing CP photographer) Megan Lloyd's vocals hang above it all in an ethereal haze. All the parts work together to form a song that is incredibly catchy, almost sneakily so. The chugging guitar strums give 'Say' some oomph, but it's Lloyd's plaintive, sad romantic pleas ("You say you love me, I wait around") that give the song a melodic beauty. B-side 'Calling You' is pretty killer too. (Brandon Weigel)
