#STOPFOP Action at the Baltimore Hyatt in Photos

A little before 2 p.m., activists connected to Baltimore Bloc began a dual action at the Hyatt in downtown Baltimore where the Maryland Fraternal Order of Police conference, which began today, was being held. They dropped a "Black Lives Matter" banner inside the hotel and  group of seven chained themselves to the Hyatt's escalator inside. Outside, others briefly formed a line at the Hyatt's entrance and about 60 gathered in front of the Hyatt. A lengthy statement about the action calls the FOP a "good ol’ boys club," invokes the damning DOJ report on the Baltimore Police Department and  says the goal of Bloc and other related groups such as BYP100, SURJ Baltimore, and others is to, among other things,  "dismantle the pro-police system of oppression that fosters collusion between the Fraternal Order of Police, the local and statewide police departments, and the state's attorney's office." In total there were 12 arrests, according to police. (Brandon Soderberg)
