Wednesday-Thursday: Dan Savage's HUMP! Film Festival

Oct. 26, 27

You know that saying "If it exists, there is porn of it"? That usually refers to the context or characters in porn films—you got your election 2016 porn, your dinosaur porn, your Star Trek porn, your Simpsons porn (I assume). But even with the variety of thematic material, too much porn out there represents only certain body types, colors, genders, and sexualities. What "Rule 34" does not point to is what's really more important than what themed clothing the actors are removing: who's making the porn. And anyone (of age) can make or star in porn—not just the standard, vanilla Dirk Diggler types who make films that don't reflect what sex is actually like and how varied it can be. Sexpert Dan Savage, whose Savage Love advice column we know you've read if you've ever picked up this paper (maybe it's the only thing you read), brings back his carefully curated selection of DIY short films representing a spectrum of bodies, genders, sexualities, and kinks by creative, sex-positive, rookie pornographers. Close out of Porn Hub and discover what's out there. Oct. 26 and 27 at 7:30 p.m. and 9 :30 p.m., Creative Alliance, 3134 Eastern Ave., (410) 276-1651,, $20. (Maura Callahan)
