Wednesday: Larry Weaner: Garden Revolution

July 27

Maybe you're an expert home gardener, capable of turning your tiny backyard into a small farm, harvesting bountiful tomatoes and herbs and squash from the heavy pots on your stoop. Or perhaps you dream of that life—one day—but currently have trouble keeping your one small cactus alive in your sunny bedroom. There's so much to know—water and sunlight needs and soil health—and it can seem daunting, but it's really just practical knowledge and natural rhythms, which is what authors Larry Weaner and Thomas Christopher attempt to put forth in their book "Garden Revolution." Come hear Weaner talk about the book and his philosophy on gardening and landscaping in ways that "require less labor and are more aesthetically rewarding and environmentally sound." 7 p.m., Ivy Bookshop, 6080 Falls Road, (410) 377-2966, theivybookshop.com, free.
