Wednesday: GBCA Brown Bag: SPACE

May 11

Baltimore is home to dozens of art collectives and artist-run spaces, many of which are multi-use, hosting art shows and rap battles or experimental plays or poetry readings simultaneously. And then sometimes art stuff pops up in unconventional spaces, like Open Space's Artist-Run Art Fair during Artscape which, during its first two years, was located in the Charles Street parking garage; or the recent immersive "ROOM" installation in what used to be the Everyman Theatre, near the Charles; or last month's UpResting project, a series of workshops and performances in an Upton vacant lot. Artists here are always finding spaces and making things work, and in that spirit, this event aims to connect Baltimore's ever-growing network of artists and collectives and organizers, and introduce a couple of new resources to the community: SpaceFinder Baltimore and Art in Sacred Spaces. Noon-2 p.m., Greater Baltimore Cultural Alliance (at the Baltimore Theatre Project), 45 W. Preston St., (410) 230-0200,, free. (Rebekah Kirkman)
