Wednesday: Brunch With The Elephants

March 23

The elephants of the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus are retiring to Florida, as one often does after decades of unpleasant labor and the unrelenting annoyance of overexcited children. Following their run at Royal Farms Arena (through March 27), they'll pack away their feather headdresses and move to a circus-run conservation center with the rest of the probably traumatized pachyderms—not long after Seaworld announced the end of their horrific orca breeding program. Finally, things are looking slightly less cruel in the caged animal kingdom. For the last time, you can catch the elephants as they eat their annual public brunch (yes, it's their brunch, not ours, though as always Lexington Market offers excellent food options) outside the market. Noon, Lexington Market, 400 W. Lexington St., (410) 685-6169, lexingtonmarket.com, free. (Maura Callahan)
