Thursday: Sam Holden: City Paper B&W Prints

Jan. 21

Hundreds of black and white portraits and scenes shot by the late, great Sam Holden for City Paper from the 1990s until his 2014 death will hang in the storefront at 510 W. Franklin St. for a week starting Thursday. “I’ve got boxes that hold 200 sheets of paper,” curator (and former CP art director and current "Mr. Wrong" columnist) Joe MacLeod says. Every picture was an assignment from the paper, and many—not all—ran in the print edition: bands, artists, news makers, and random people and things the paper would run as a standalone feature. The photos will be for sale, with showings by appointment after the opening. 6-9 p.m., 510 W. Franklin St.,, free. (Edward Ericson Jr.)
