Thursday: "Road to Revenge"

April 7

In my high school and early college days, my friends and I would scour the shelves at Blockbuster for the best in craptastic straight-to-video B movies. Before "The Room" was a cult phenomenon, these provided some of the best examples of bizarre acting choices, uneven writing, and poorly done effects. After video stores waned and the internet grew, sites like Amazon and eBay delivered an even bigger treasure trove of comically bad cinema, and that's how we somehow found "Get Even," also known as "Road to Revenge." As Mondo Baltimore's Facebook event page rightly notes, "[i]t's 'The Room' meets 'Any Steven Seagal Movie.'" The movie was written, directed, and presumably financed by L.A. attorney John De Hart, who also plays the lead and uses the movie to make himself look like a gun-toting, karate chopping badass. Do you really need more of a plot than that? Okay, go ahead check out to watch a preview of the "biggest little movie ever made." 7 p.m., The Windup Space, 12 W. North Ave., (410) 244-8855,, free.
