Thursday: Ladies of Hampden Calendar

Dec. 8

Last year, a handful of Hampden businessowners and photographer Justin Tsucalas released the mildly risqué wall calendar "Boys of Hampden"and its slightly less clothed companion, the "Boys Gone Wild" edition, to raise funds for the The Hampden Family Center and to titilate those who would hang the calendars on the walls of, say, their newspaper office cubicle. Immediately there was talk of a follow-up calendar for the next new year, and now "Ladies of Hampden" is finally here, again shot by Tsucalas and benefitting the Hampden Family Center. But this time, the models aren't baring their skin so much as their ferocity. Nikki Verdecchia, owner of NV Salon Collective and the project's stylist, glammed up Hampden's women in circus and sideshow opulence. So don't expect your average pinup—after all, it'll be nice to have a daily reminder of women's ringleader strength (not that you should need one) in the first year of Trump. Last year, the calendar's creators raised nearly $10,000, so help them beat that number by picking up a calendar at the launch party—Tsucalas and Verdecchia will be on hand to talk about the project, and models to sign copies. 7-9 p.m., Atomic Books, 3620 Falls Road, (410) 662-4444, atomicbooks.com, $20 for a calendar.
