Sunday: Speedy Ortiz, Aye Nako, Beauty Pill

Dec. 13

Whip-smart loud-quiet-loud foursome Speedy Ortiz come through town for a special cause. This all-ages show benefits the Girls Rock Camp Foundation if you spend a bit more than the normal ticket price. For five dollars extra, you receive a Speedy Ortiz poster designed by Michael DeForge, current king of deeply touching, often body-horror-filled alternative comix (Speedy Ortiz, if you don't know, is the name of a character from the Hernandez Brothers' seminal underground comic, "Love and Rockets"); a $10 donation gets you Speedy Ortiz nail-art stickers; and a $30 donation gets you both of those pieces along with Girls Rock Camp print. Also on the bill: hyper-inclusive, gnarly pop-punkers Aye Nako and Washington, D.C. legends Beauty Pill, whose "Beauty Pill Describes Things As They Are" is one of the year's best. 8 p.m., The Metro Gallery, 1700 N. Charles St., (410) 244-0899,, $12-$42.(Brandon Soderberg)
