Sunday: Mushroom City Art Festival

Oct. 25

An outdoor festival for art and mushrooms is a recipe for hippie-dippie nonsense. But before you write this off—or jump into your Volkswagen bus and head for the woods, depending on who you are—know that this is a “family-friendly” event exploring the diverse and not necessarily psychedelic properties of shrooms. Learn about new and old (but often kept hush-hush) discoveries from psilocybin research and how to cultivate, forage, and identify all kinds of toadstools alongside art installations, live music, and film screenings. Noon-9 p.m., Leakin Park, 4900 Windsor Mill Road, mushroomcityartfestival.org, free.
