September: BmoreArt Magazine Launch Party

Nov. 21

City Paper prides itself on our coverage of the arts, bringing you the best (and the not so great) of everything from the newest DIY gallery to the BMA. We're certainly not alone in this pursuit, and one of the most consistent and thoughtful voices in the arts community has been Cara Ober and her group of contributors at BmoreArt. This month marks the inaugural release of a print journal from the BmoreArt team, a "Journal of Art + Ideas." The 64-page issue looks asks some of the art scene's key players: "What does it mean to be an artist in Baltimore today? How does art define a place? How is the relationship between place and production realized?" You'll find out their answers at a cocktail reception for the issue, where you'll receive a hard copy in addition to some adult beverages. 7 p.m., Maryland Art Place, 218 W. Saratoga St., bmoreart.com, $25. (Brandon Weigel)
