Saturday: WTMD Homebrew Competition

Nov. 7

If you're reading this (and you brew beer), it's too late. The more than 30 contestants for this beer-making contest have been selected, so there's no sense in retrieving your malt, hops, and brewing bucket. But the good news—assuming you like beer, which, if you're brewing it, you presumably do—is that unlimited tastings of the competing beers are on offer, which can be consumed in a complimentary commemorative glass. And they can be guzzled and pondered while enjoying the smooth sounds of The Manly Deeds. Then democracy comes in and attendees must vote on which lucky brewer is deserving of gift cards to Nepenthe Homebrew and Brewer's Art. A judges panel will determine whose nectar of the gods will be brewed and served on tap at the Brewer's Art's Midtown restaurant, where you can go to enjoy it again and again, because you like beer enough to brew it but don't mind paying a few extra bucks to enjoy it without all that hard work. 1-5 p.m., WTMD, 1 Olympic Place, Towson, (443) 438-4846,, $30.
