Saturday-Sunday: Air Show Baltimore

Oct. 15-16

It's Fleet Week, bringing dozens of vessels from the Canadian and U.S. militaries here to Baltimore. The U.S. Navy's newest multi-million  dollar killing machine, the USS Zumwalt, will be in town, as will hundreds of sailors, all part of a huge military festival fit for the whole family. But we're keying on the two days when the skies over Baltimore will resemble "Top Gun" for hours as elite flight groups such as the Blue Angels (pictured) fly around town and do flips and tricks and shit and scare the bejesus out of the uninitiated with the roar of gallons of gasoline (and your tax dollars) igniting huge jet engines. Try to stand there, head tilted toward the sky watching American planes doing badass American things (and the war industrial complex and American imperialism at work, etc. etc.), and not get Kenny Loggins' 'Danger Zone' stuck in your head. The Baltimore Running Festival (aka the marathon) is also on Saturday, so brace yourself to take a ride into the traffic clusterfuck zone. 1-4 p.m., Inner Harbor,, free. (Brandon Weigel)
