Saturday: Sondheim Artscape Prize Award Announcement

July 9

This week, City Paper is posting a review of each Sondheim Artscape Prize finalist’s show at the Baltimore Museum of Art (on view through July 31) every day leading up to the announcement of the winner, who will receive the $25,000 prize to fund their future work. Between Theo Anthony, Stephanie Barber, Darcie Book, Larry Cook, FORCE: Upsetting Rape Culture, Eric Kruszewski, and Christos Palios, this year’s crop of finalists brings a focus on documentary and video-based work, text as art, and a breadth of social justice issues. You may have already read a few of these reviews on, but there are still more to come—and be sure to pick up next week’s issue for the complete coverage of the finalists as well as a guide to this year’s Artscape festival, where you can also see an exhibition of work by the Sondheim Prize semifinalists. See the finalists’ show and stick around for an awards ceremony and reception where the winner will be announced this Saturday. 7 p.m., Baltimore Museum of Art, 10 Art Museum Drive, (443) 573-1700,, free.
