Saturday: Orioles FanFest

Dec. 12

Typically in February, the Orioles' festival of Q&As, autograph sessions, photo opportunities, games, and much more was moved up to before Christmas, probably to soften the disappointment of another offseason of not spending money. JUST KIDDING! Dan Duquette, executive vice president of baseball operations, has already made a trade for a power bat, Mark Trumbo, and reportedly has retained the services of reliever Darren O'Day. Earlier reports indicated that owner Peter Angelos had taken a personal interest in bringing back slugger Chris Davis, and the acquisition of Trumbo apparently doesn't mean the team is out of the running. So the O's have already made one deal—rather than sit on their hands, as they often seem to do—and seem intent on spending cash. Isn't that in itself worth celebrating? 11 a.m.-6 p.m., Baltimore Convention Center, 1 W. Pratt St., 888-848-2473,, $12, children 14 and younger and adults 60 and older $6. (Brandon Weigel)
