Saturday: Loop Dreams

June 11

Here's a night of nervy DJs organized by DJ Trillnatured, City Paper's Best New DJ of 2015, whose recent-ish mix titled "Why Wassup" is full of surprises—especially the way it uses a track from buzzing Oakland rapper Kamaiyah—and artfully fuses toughminded rap and R&B with warm, spare slow jams. Also on the bill is Genie (pictured), who just released the excellent Summer Glow mix—45 minutes of songs that seem to all somehow suggest summer, kicking off with a track by Sinjin Hawke, along with Lil Boosie, Cardi B, and Sade, among others. Then there's self-described dancefloor decolonizer Alex DB, DMV minimalist DJ Kleonapatra, and Washington D.C.-based fusionist Kryptk. All in all, this collection of DJs represents the kind of lithe futurism that has made post-club music parties in Baltimore so exciting over the past couple of years. 9 p.m., The Crown, 1910 N. Charles St., (410) 625-4848,, $5. (Brandon Soderberg)
