Saturday: Cranksgiving 2016

Nov. 19

As a holiday, Thanksgiving has questionable origins—the relationship between American colonists and American Indians was not all smiles and table manners and equitable exchanges for maize and all that we're taught in elementary school. But feeling gratitude for what you have in life is always important, and more important yet to turn that gratitude around and give back to those who have less to be thankful for. For the second year, Bikemore offers an opportunity to give back and have doing it through their Cranksgiving scavenger hunt, which sends bikers all over the city to find food items to be donated to Moveable Feast. Afterwards, toast the ride at Johnny Rad's Pizzeria Tavern. Noon-4:30 p.m., Bikemore, 2209 Maryland Ave., (443) 475-0350,, free (bring $10-$15 to help purchase food items). (Maura Callahan)
