Saturday: Cherry Hill Arts & Music Festival

Aug. 19

"CHERRY HILL AND DOWN YOUR BLOCK CHERRY HILL AND DOWN YOUR BLOCK CHERRY HILL AND DOWN YOUR BLOCK," goes a Baltimore club hit from producer Mighty Mark and T.T. The Artist—a celebration of the noted South Baltimore neighborhood and this weekend, the site of the first ever Cherry Hill Arts & Music Festival. Appropriately, Mark and T.T. are performing, so you'll presumably hear their classic in the very place that inspired it. Also on the bill, local jazz institution Lafayette Gilchrist, who'll bring his searching, energetic jazz to Cherry Hill, and a number of others including Russ Shanks, Karter Jaymes, Too Phliy, Jonathan Gilmore, Navasha Daya, Tidy Baggs, and Tru Soldier. Also on hand will be food trucks and a screening of "Love Nama Love," a documentary directed by Fanon Hill about black families in Baltimore, among other highlights. Noon, Reedbird Park, 101 Reedbird Ave.,, free. (Brandon Soderberg)
