Saturday: Brew and Bourbon Classic

June 11

When the Belmont Stakes took place a year ago, there was so much anticipation with American Pharoah vying to become the first horse in 37 years to win the Triple Crown. This year, not so much. Once Kentucky Derby winner Nyquist faded in the Preakness, the possibility of another Triple Crown winner got pushed to 2017. For casual fans, that means the Belmont isn't even worth watching. Luckily for them, they can enjoy an afternoon at Pimlico, right here in Baltimore, on Belmont day, knocking back samples of delicious whiskey and microbrews—more than 60 different types, to be exact. There's also going to be food, music, and a full card of live racing, which is always exciting to see in person, even if there's not a Triple Crown on the line. And for those of us who still care about the Belmont, there's simulcast betting. 1-6 p.m., Pimlico Race Course, 5201 Park Heights Ave., (410) 542-9400,, $39. (Brandon Weigel)
