Oct. 1

Autumn is upon us, bringing with it the need for light jackets and heavier booze to keep warm. There are two tastings today, so why not, with the help of a designated driver or taxi/Uber, attend both? The order you choose is up to you, but might I suggest heading to first to Chesterfield Avenue, where you can grab lunch from food trucks, shop vendor tables, enjoy the sounds of Purple Honey, April Sampe', Spice, and DJ Jamal while sipping on brews from Oliver Brewing Co. and Linganore Wines. Then, head down to Oliver's restaurant, Pratt Street Ale House, to sample specially made fall brews from Oliver, Charm City Meadworks, Flying Dog, Evolution Craft Brewing, and Handsome Beer Company. Even when you exercise moderation, as you should, the heavier suds should leave you with rosy cheeks and a nice warm feeling in your gut. Belair-Edison Beer and Wine Festival, 11 a.m.-6 p.m., 2800 Chesterfield Ave.,, $10 (ticket includes souvenir glass and samples), non-drinkers $5; Fall Ale Festival, noon-5 p.m., Pratt Street Ale House, 206 W. Pratt St., (410) 244-8900,, $40. (Brandon Weigel)
