Johns Hopkins Spring Fair

April 24-26

To be honest, we typically look at Johns Hopkins University with a bit of disdain. Costs of living going up in Charles Village, Remington, and Hampden? Loudmouthed teenage drunks doing loudmouthed teenage drunk things? Long lines at the Charles Village Chipotle? Hopkinssss! But every spring the school pretends like it doesn't hate its neighbors and invites residents to enjoy beer, food, live music, vendors, and leisurely relaxing on the campus' many grassy malls. The logo for this year's edition has a "Survivor" theme ("Outwit, Outlast, Outfair"), which is a little disconcerting, like they're going to lure us non-Blue Jays in and then hold us captive and force us to compete in desert island-esque challenges. But we'll take our chances for some funnel cake, beer, mini golf, zoo animals, and music from noted Honey Nut Cheerios spokesman Nelly. Friday noon-8 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m.-8 p.m., Sunday 10 a.m.-6 p.m., Johns Hopkins University, 3400 N. Charles St.,, free. (Brandon Weigel)
