May 21: Glitter Thighs "Under the Sea"

For about three years, Glitter Thighs has celebrated and affirmed queer folx via fabulously cathartic dance parties about once a month, give or take. Tonight, DJs Trillnatured, Vector Voltage, and Donté Disaster provide the tunes, artist Victor Torres runs the projections, and proceeds benefit the East Coast Two Spirit Society, a Native American/First Nations community of LGBTQ* people who are trying to make it to NYC's Pride Parade this year. Tonight's theme is "under the sea"—a prompt offering limitless outfit concepts that make me want to riff off of "The Little Mermaid" or "The Blue Planet" and David Attenborough. Mmm. Here are a few ideas to get your wheels turning: seapunk sea urchin, leg aquarium (paint fish on your legs, then put on fishnets), cute manatee, bodysuit made entirely of Lisa Frank dolphin stickers, sequined mermaid, Marianas Trench, crab feast. Go all out. 9 p.m., Metro Gallery, 1700 N. Charles St.,, $5 before 11 p.m., $10 after. (Rebekah Kirkman)
