Madonnari Arts Festival

Through Sunday, South High Street,, free.

For about 500 years, the old stone streets of Italy have been illuminated by rich chalk paintings, one constantly replacing another as the images are worn away by feet and weather. Baltimore needs to get in on this tradition—and where better to start than Little Italy, where for the first time, i madonnari will create chalk artworks directly on the street alongside the Columbus Day Parade, a bocce tournament, food and drink, live music, theater, and dance
