Friday-Sunday: Pixar in Concert

Jan. 22-24

There's very little that isn't brilliant about non-"Cars" Pixar films. After all, it's one of the very few movie studios that has improved upon an already fantastic series with each installment, as we saw with the "Toy Story" trilogy ("Monsters University" was a dud compared to "Monsters, Inc.", but hopefully "Finding Dory" will re-establish this progressive pattern when it premieres this June). The films' scores are no exception; the music is part of what made "Toy Story," "Wall-E," and "Monsters, Inc." thrill and move children, their parents, and non-parent adults alike. The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra's SuperPops will perform a selection of this music, spanning Pixar's 13 feature films, alongside clips from the movies. Bring tissues in case they play that crushing montage from the beginning of "Up." 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 3 p.m. Sunday, Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall, 1212 Cathedral St., (410) 783-8000,, $16.50-$106.
