Friday: Save Your Soul with guest DJ Fred Schneider

June 3

DJs Brian Gilbert and Rob Macy typically have guests join them on the decks at the monthly Save Your Soul dance party, but I must confess I, um, haven't heard of all of them. That really doesn't matter, though, because the tunes are always great, the dance floor is always packed, and there's lots and lots of Lithuanian beer on offer. When SYS does land a big-deal guest DJ that even I've heard of, though, it's really great, and holy shit, they booked B-52's frontman Fred Schneider. Per Facebook, Schneider is going "to spin some of his favorite girl groups, funky dancers and novelty movers that inspired his music and his dancin' feet over the years." So it'll be like a history lesson on one of the most wonderfully eccentric band leaders in pop music, as well as dance party that will surely get everyone movin' and groovin'. 9 p.m., Lithuanian Hall, 851 Hollins St.,, $10 (pre-sale for $7).
