Friday-Saturday: Dope Body "The End"

May 13-14

One of the many wonderful things about the Baltimore music scene is it gives people the chance to watch artists grow and thrive. Over the years, I've seen Dope Body perform in any number of spaces, from warehouses to festivals to proper clubs. In that same time, I've watched them evolve from chopped up noisey rock to a roaring, energetic, scuzzy rock group with tighter songs, from a hidden Baltimore treasure to a band signed to widely respected indie label Drag City. As the name of these two shows implies, Dope Body is calling it quits after a nearly eight-year run. No band can go on forever—and many of those that try probably shouldn't—but hell if I won't miss this band and their sweaty, ear drum-bursting live shows. Cheers, guys. Night One with Gurl Crush, 83 Cutlass, and Guerilla Toss, 8 p.m., Metro Gallery, 1700 N. Charles St., (410) 244-0899,, $10, Night Two with Earth Eater and Chain and the Gang, 9 p.m., Floristree, $10.
