Friday: Juiceboxxx, the Sneaks, Mark Brown, Stevepossible

April 22

This Milwaukee post-punker, white rapper, party-starter, and junk culture theorizer plays here a few times a year it seems—he's one of those Baltimore-not-Baltimore acts. And when he comes through with his jean jacket, fist-pumping tracks, and Ian Curtis-like stare, it's always a lot of fun on a like punk rawk level but also some kind of performance art kind of thing. Shit man, there's even a pretentious-ass book about Juiceboxxx, titled "The Next Next Level: A Story of Rap, Friendship, and Almost Giving Up" by Leon Neyfakh and then again, Juiceboxxx himself also sells a legit energy drink. That's the dude in a nutshell, really: heady pop-culture philosophizing and an almost maniacal devotion to big, bad-good ideas. Don't miss this show. 9 p.m., Joe Squared, 33 W. North Ave., (410) 545-0444,,  $5. (Brandon Soderberg)
