Friday: D. Watkins talks to Tariq Touré

March 4

There's so much talent in this city lately and City Paper's lucky to have just a tiny bit to do with it. Here, City Paper contributor D. Watkins, author of "The Beast Side" and the upcoming "The Cook-Up," sits down with poet and writer and activist Tariq Touré, who has published essays on reparations and a few poems in City Paper, to talk about well, probably a lot of things, but in particular, Toure's book of poetry, "Black Seeds." I consider both of these guys friends and it's always a delight shooting the shit or texting with them about serious issues or just small-but-still-significant things such as the inspiring knuckleheadedness of Kanye West. Also there is photographer Shannon Wallace, whose work has also appeared in the paper and whose stark, intimate photos appear in "Black Seeds" and will be exhibited at Impact Hub. 6 p.m., Impact Hub Baltimore, 10 E. North Ave., (443 821 7482),, free. (Brandon Soderberg)
