There was only one homicide in Baltimore this week, along with several shootings. March is shaping up as an especially nonmurderous one. By this date last year there had been 41 murders.

Tuesday, March 17

8:57 p.m. Alton Wallace III, a month and a week past his 27th birthday, was in a car on the 1200 block of East Oliver Street, two blocks east of Greenmount Cemetery, when police found him, shot multiple times. He died soon after at a hospital. Wallace resided about three and a half miles up Greenmount Avenue, on Radnor Avenue.
