Murder Ink: 3/11/15

There were two homicides this week, and two arrests for previous homicides. Baltimore has had two fewer murders in 2015 than on the same date last year.

Monday, March 2

4:40 p.m. Someone shot Markez Jones, a 28-year-old African-American man, multiple times on the 1300 block of West Lafayette Avenue, on the border of Sandtown-Winchester and Harlem Park. Police and medics came; Jones made it to the hospital but died soon after.

Tuesday, March 3

5 p.m. Djuan Tillett, a 26-year-old African-American man, was on the 800 block of Richwood Avenue in the tiny neighborhood of Richnor Springs when someone shot him in the head. Tillett died soon after. He resided on the 1200 block of Valley Street, about three and a half miles down Greenmount Avenue from where he was killed.


The man killed on the 5600 block of Loch Raven on Feb. 25 was identified as Tavon Reese, a 22-year-old African-American man. On Feb. 26 police arrested Trey Connor, age 18, in the March 3, 2013 murder of Twain Robinson, a 36-year-old African-American man. On March 3, police arrested Ambrosio Lorenzo, 26, and charged him with the Dec. 25 stabbing death of Herson Hernandez, who was 29 years old.
