It was another bad week in Baltimore: police recorded six murders plus the death of a one-month-old infant whose father said he was only giving her a bath. She was scalded over 80 percent of her body. One of the confirmed murder victims was a 16-year-old boy. Another was a 77-year-old man. One person was shot to death after a dispute at a home improvement center. Police arrested a man and charged him with murder in that case.
Monday, May 2
3:45 p.m. Joseph Payne, a 16-year-old African-American boy, was shot in the chest at the intersection of Saint Victor Street and East Patapsco Avenue in Brooklyn. He died soon after. Police believe his murder is related to an earlier shooting on the 400 block of Patapsco Avenue. Payne had lived on the 4200 block of 4th Street. The last murder in Brooklyn was in February. There were six in the neighborhood last year.
Tuesday, May 3
6:20 p.m. Quincey Waymon, a 21-year-old African-American man, was in the Home Depot parking lot at 6600 Reisterstown Road when someone shot him multiple times. He died. Police say Waymon and a woman argued with a man inside the store earlier, and the man came back and shot him. They arrested Emmett Pulliam, a 22-year-old African-American man, on May 6 in Cecil County and charged him with the murder.
Wednesday, May 4
On Friday, March 4 at 11:05 p.m., police called to check on the well being of Raymond Chambers, a 77-year-old African-American man, and found him dead inside his home on the 1500 block of Durham Street. They deemed his death suspicious and the medical examiner ruled it a homicide on May 4.
Friday, May 6
5:40 a.m. Samuel Stewart, a 45-year-old African-American man, was shot in the shoulder on the 5700 block of Jonquil Avenue, in the Glen neighborhood. Police found him there and medics got him to a hospital, but he died.
Saturday, May 7
12:20 a.m. Makel Shaheed, a 27-year-old African-American man, was on the 3400 block of Round Road in Cherry Hill when someone shot him in the chest. Someone heard multiple shots and called police, who found him. Shaheed, of the 2800 block of Winwood Court, died at a hospital. A 24-year-old man walked into the same hospital with a gunshot wound to his leg. Police think that man and Shaheed were shot at the same time and place. His was the third murder in Cherry Hill this year.
Sunday, May 8
2:20 a.m. Antonio Buckson, a 38-year-old African-American man, was on the 600 block of North Decker Avenue in the Ellwood Park/Monument neighborhood when someone shot him multiple times. He died there. Buckson had resided on the 5100 block of Wagonhead Circle.
