Murder Ink: 8 murders this week; 33 murders this year

Eight murders this week, including a triple shooting and a double murder of a 20-year-old man and a 15-year-ol

Baltimore Police teamed with Johns Hopkins researchers to announce new and better anti-violence initiatives Monday morning, after five people were murdered over the weekend.

Wednesday, Feb. 17

9:00 p.m. A man who police have not yet identified publicly was near the intersection of North Bentalou Street and North Avenue in the Coppin Heights/Ash Co East neighborhood when someone shot him in the head. The man died at a hospital shortly thereafter.

Thursday, Feb. 18

11:03 p.m. Jamar Wise, a 24-year-old African-American man, was on the 2700 block of Pelham Avenue in Belair-Edison when someone walked up and shot him several times in the legs, then ran off. Medics took Wise to a hospital but he died.

Friday, Feb. 19

12:42 p.m. Two women and a man were shot at a home on the 2300 block of Aiken Street in the East Baltimore-Midway neighborhood. A 40 year-old woman and a 45-year-old man survived, but Shirley Jordan, a 60-year-old African-American woman, was pronounced dead at a hospital.

Saturday, Feb. 20

1:40 p.m. Anthony Daniels, a 20-year-old African-American man, and Quindell Ford, a 15-year-old African-American boy, were sitting in a car on the 2300 block of West Lafayette Avenue in the Bridgeview-Greenlawn neighborhood of West Baltimore when someone shot them both. They died at a hospital. Daniels lived on the 1100 block of Stricker Street, according to police. Ford lived on the 1300 block of North Carey Street.

Sunday, Feb. 21

2:30 a.m. Christopher Carter, a 19 year-old man, was in an apartment on the 700 block of West Lafayette Avenue in Upton when he got into a dispute with 20-year-old Elera Osaro over money, according to police. Osaro allegedly stabbed Carter in the chest, and he died in a hospital soon afterward. Police arrested Osaro and charged her with murder. She was held in the Central Booking and Intake Facility pending a bail hearing.

1:30 p.m. A 20-year-old man who police have not yet publicly identified was shot to death on the 2300 block of Denison Street, in the Mount Holly neighborhood. Police say the man was shot multiple times and died at a hospital.

8:15 p.m. Gerald Hill, Jr., a 22-year-old African-American man, was on the 1700 block of Hilton Street in Rosemont when someone shot him multiple times. He died overnight at a hospital. Hill resided on the 3200 block of Normount Avenue.


Police identified the man who was shot on February 12 on the 2100 block of West Fayette Street. He was Robert Pryor, a 28-year-old African-American man.
