Hogan The governor-elect won by running a smart campaign that hammered Brown on taxes real or imagined (i.e., the "Rain Tax," which isn't a tax and isn't on rain). He was, of course, aided by low voter turnout and the state's bloodless Democratic machine that spit out the overconfident next-in-line empty suit Anthony Brown. Meanwhile, even though he wasn't on the ballot, O'Malley was the biggest loser. His national hopes, even as veep, are likely dashed: What Democrat wants a running mate from a small, safely blue state that can't even get his lieutenant elected on his coattails? Probably not Hillary.
