• Baltimore rappers Greenspan and (occasional CP contributor) Eze Jackson are among the headliners at the first annual Baltimore Indie Fest, held at The 8x10 May 30. The event will also feature performers from other genres, as well as visual art, film, comedy, dance, food, and beer. Tickets and more details are available at BaltimoreIndieFest.com.

• Gallery 788 will present its second Alternative Hip Hop In Hampden event May 31. Locals Something compleX, Femi The Drifish, Adam Selene, and Vans Westly, as well as Nashville acts kidDEAD and Sofa Brown will appear.

• In the past year, local indie rap collective Height With Friends has released the first two installments of a trilogy of old school hip-hop homages, Versus Dynamic Sounds and Versus Electric Rockers. The third album in the series is still on the way, but in the meantime, last week the group released 10,000 Devastating Watts, a collection of outtakes from the busy sessions for these albums.

• There'll be several opportunities in the coming weeks to see underground hip-hop luminaries on tour in the area with Baltimore MCs opening. On May 30, Boot Camp Clik veteran Sean Price will perform at The Circuit in Essex, along with long-running Baltimore group Dirt Platoon and the talented young rapper Damond Blue. On June 14, Stones Throw Records rapper Homeboy Sandman will headline the Metro Gallery with openers Ullnevano, A Class, and The 7th Floor Villains. Also at the Metro Gallery, Cage, a rapper known both as a friend to Shia LeBeouf and a foe to Eminem, will perform with Cubbiebear and PT Burnem opening on July 11.
