As readers will see elsewhere in this issue, the last year has not been kind to local institutions, with many disappearing forever. Beloved greasy spoon Jimmy’s Restaurant is still here—well, in name only. New owner Rustem “Rudy” Keskin took 500 grand and redid the beloved diner hangout of William Donald Schaefer and other politicos as an upscale joint. Hey, it’s his place and he can do with it as he pleases, but anyone who knew and loved the old Jimmy’s knows that it is in effect dead.
