Best OK, It’s Hard to Wring Positives from a 4-10 Season, But Arena Football Is Still Fun: Baltimore Brigade

Once a business venture for Jon Bon Jovi and the band KISS, the Arena Football League started anew this year, and that included billionaire D.C. sports mogul Ted Leonsis launching a franchise right here in Baltimore. The rebooted AFL only had five teams in it, and three of those teams, including the Brigade, won fewer than 40 percent of their games. Hey, somebody’s gotta do the losing. In a kind of hilariously sad moment, the Brigade announced they were in the playoffs, only to be told by the league that it wasn’t the case because someone misunderstood the tie-breaker rules. Oof. They did make the playoffs eventually, only to lose, 69-54, to the eventual champions, the Philadelphia Soul. All of that said, the pass-happy game of arena football is fun as hell to watch, and we look forward to many more years of having a team.
