Best Kitchen Redux: The Brewer’s Art

1106 N. Charles St., (410) 547-6925, thebrewersart.com

The Brewer’s Art has long been a regular on best restaurant lists, yet most people we talk to go for the beers and garlic fries in the basement bar and forget just how good their dining room can be. We were reminded of what the Brewer’s Art’s kitchen is capable of when they hired Andrew Weinzirl—formerly of Maggie’s Farm, Le Garage, and The Wine Market Bistro—and he started putting his own spin on their European-inspired fare. While we’ve thoroughly enjoyed every chef that’s come through the restaurant, Weinzirl has been taking it to another level that deserves attention, coming up with innovative dishes such as grilled curry cauliflower and moulard duck schnitzel. Even if you’re not up for a full dinner, grab a beer at the bar and dabble in his appetizers, like the chilled peach and fennel soup or the runny duck egg encased in mushroom and miso faux-sausage.
