When Boiler Room was opened by the owners of Bookmakers Cocktail Club as their more casual venture, we were impressed to find a bar that harkens back to an ‘80s arcade with old school video games, pinball machines, and mini hoops. But what really caught our attention was their full menu of beers paired with various shots of liquor. The shot-and-a-beer has long been a bartender’s favorite order at the end of a shift, but at Boiler Room you’ll see much more than the typical Pikesville and Boh (although there’s that too, of course). Expect unique one-two punches like Tecate paired with Ancho Reyes ancho chile liquor or, our personal favorite, an Allagash White wheat ale served with herbaceous yellow Chartreuse.
