Chicken Rico’s new Inner Harbor incarnation is, aesthetically speaking, a world apart from the flagship beige-tiled dining hall on Eastern Avenue. Bare bulbs dangle against a wall of “reclaimed wood” laminate, as if to suggest that mason jars and a Wi-Fi hotspot lurk nearby. Most of the walls are windows, and the television plays NBC instead of soccer by satellite. Side dishes are marked vegetarian and/or dairy-free as applicable, and, out of nowhere, there’s a tasty saag aloo. It feels like a #nowtrending fever dream of Chicken Rico, but the prices are still reasonable and the signature herb-saturated rotisserie chicken is still boss.
