Best New Face On Scene: Lighthole

Since fall 2015, this fourth-floor Copycat space has not only become a welcome dose of interdisciplinary and performance art during the monthly Alloverstreet art walks, but it’s also a welcome hub of documentation. Started by artist and UMBC MFA grad Victor F. de M. Torres in 2015, Lighthole has focused almost exclusively on conceptually heady work of some kind, whether that be a live installation from Kristen Anchor or a video interview with poet Fire Angelou. Additionally, the gallery publishes the Lighthole Journal, an eclectic mix of art talk and literary hijinx, as well as the flat-out great publication ‘Ass Dance,’ a DIY exhibition catalog of the work of experimental filmmaker Cathy Cook.
