Best Development: Repertory Cinema

The Charles Revival Series is a treasure for cinephiles across the city, bringing classics such as “Rear Window,” “The Conversation,” and “Carrie,” as well as lesser known gems “Mauvais Sang” and “House,” to the big screen. That said, we weren’t disappointed when The Senator Theatre, which is also owned by the Cusacks, the same family that owns the Charles, started upping its repertory game earlier this year. And while the series seems more inclined to go big-tent with the likes of “Raiders of the Lost Ark” and “Lawrence of Arabia,” they also pull in some arthouse fare, such as “Blue Velvet” or Godard’s “Contempt.” There’s no better way to experience a move than on the big screen, and that’s especially true in Baltimore’s art-deco movie palace.
