Best Club Song: James Nasty, ‘Dynamite’

Driven by boisterous percussion, aggressive gunshots, and a creatively chopped sample of Beenie Man’s ‘Dancehall Queen,’ James Nasty’s ‘Dynamite’ reinvigorated the homegrown Baltimore club music effort this year. Released via European club label Top Billin’ on a collaborative compilation with the internet-based underground club music collective Classical Trax, ‘Dynamite’ takes a more global approach to the genre by skillfully integrating exotic dancehall elements into the traditional framework of club music. A party-starter with international appeal, ‘Dynamite’ bridges the gap between Baltimore and the rest of the world.
