Fluid Movement’s annual water ballet production is a summer rite of passage. Held over two weekends at Druid Hill Park and Patterson Park’s public pools, the shows are a festival of glitter and coordinated dance moves, both in and out of the water, held together by a loose plot to occasion the whole thing. This year it tantalized us with a look back at Jeff Goldblum’s career, and it made even less sense than usual, and we think that’s a good thing in a city like Baltimore that doesn’t always make sense either. Its work never fails to delight, and we especially love that anybody can be part of the show, as evidenced by the wide range of genders, ages, and body types in the pool. That’s amateur theater done right, and no one does it better than Fluid Movement.
