Best Shrine to Blaze Starr: The Midway

421 E. Baltimore St., (410) 727-5054

After the death of Baltimore burlesque icon Blaze Starr, we took to Baltimore’s Block to find any traces of the former owner of the 2 O’Clock Club. Thankfully, The Midway Bar keeps several photos, from the ’40s up until the ’90s, of the deceased burlesque queen on the walls around the bar. The Midway is the only non-strip club on the Block and is a haven for many of the characters that would have been around in Blaze’s day. The interior hasn’t changed either. With the dark wood paneling, a vintage “Ladies Room” sign, and the neon glow from the light strips around the bar, it’s as if Blaze could walk in any moment. And the drinks are pretty damn cheap too.
