When you walk into Café Cito, the tiny Spanish-inspired spot in Hampden, it’s hard to miss chef/owner Dave Sherman. He’s not only cooking things in the back of the house, he’s also all over the place; taking orders, seating customers, asking people how everything is, and excitedly answering questions about the food as if someone had just asked him about his first-born child. Whether it’s teaching people at a local food workshop how to make gazpacho using a massive 3-foot hand blender or eagerly explaining the dishes he’s creating for his one-weekend-a-month prix fixe dinners, you can be sure it’ll be delivered with a hearty laugh and an even bigger smile. He’s obviously loving life, and it shows, both in his staff and his food.
