The simple menu at this 25th Street bar and noshery is superb stem to stern, from the curry goat roti to the jerk chicken wings that put any sports bars to shame, but anytime we’re grabbing carry-out we always go for the same thing: jerk chicken. The presentation is the Caribbean fare norm: a bed of rice and beans complimented with steamed cabbage and fried plantains, topped with jerk chicken. But that chicken is something else. Yes, it’s moist and juicy, but its heat factor—aromatic, peppery, and just this side of being too much—is what we just can’t quit.
